Last night I attended a fundraiser for Homeless Children's Education Fund and Venture Outdoors. Both non-profit organizations that are supporting great causes and do amazing things for the city of Pittsburgh. I have been following HCEF for over a while now and have had the opportunity to attend many of their events.
Lately, however, it feels as though that each event is the same: good food, great location, expensive cover, and some sort of auction (silent, chinese, 50-50, etc). There is nothing wrong with that right? But how many times can that stay interesting? Why should we keep going back?
There are a ton of "great" organizations out there that are doing "great" things. Why should I continue to give my money and (sometimes more importantly) my time to this one?
So the question becomes: Do fundraisers work as well as they used to? I don't think so. But is the solution?
When I have questions like this, it's best to start with the experts:
What do you think? Are you sick of attending the same fund raiser over and over again? What type of event would get you out to support a local charity?
