Kenneth Neil Cukier - The Economist
Kenneth Cukier is the Data Editor of The Economist and co-author of the New York Times Bestseller “Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think,” with Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, which has been translated into 15 languages.
Kenn has covered business, technology and politics at The Economist for over a decade, as a foreign correspondent in Tokyo in 2007-12 and a technology writer in London and Boston before that. Previously, he was the Technology Editor of the Wall Street Journal Asia in Hong Kong and a regular commenter on CNBC Asia. Earlier still, he worked at the International Herald Tribune in Paris.
In addition to his staff jobs, his writings have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times and Foreign Affairs, among others. He is a frequent commentator on business and technology matters for media including BBC and NPR, and a regular speaker at industry events like World Economic Forum meetings.
From 2002-04 Kenn was a research fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the board of directors of International Bridges to Justice, a nonprofit organization promoting legal rights in developing countries.
