Open Source for America Publishes Federal Open Technology Report Card

US CIO issues new memo on open source

The United States' CIO, Vivek Kundra, today issued a new memo instructing government IT officials to consider purchases "free of preconceived preferences based on how the teclmology is developed, licensed or distributed." This means, the memo says, that open-source products should be part of the mix. News, for the federal government.
