What do you want to get from Tech@State?
I hope to gain more insight into the role of social media in nation branding and place diplomacy.
Why is user need more important than cool tech? Or is it?
The image of a country is not fully within their control anyway, especially now when the field for sharing one's views about a nation has become egalitarian. This means that both the medium and the message have to be tailored by the individual users to suit the needs they are attempting to meet re: their nation's image. Without such tailoring, such technology just puts image control even further out of a government's reach.
